New Jersey is taking a firm stance on reproductive rights with the introduction of the "Reproductive Freedom and Health Equity Bill Package." Acting Governor Way expressed support for the legislative initiative, highlighting its importance in safeguarding reproductive freedom and expanding access to essential health care services. The package was introduced by Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz.

Acting Governor Way emphasized New Jersey's commitment amid national challenges to women's rights. He stated, “While women across our country are having their fundamental rights stripped away, New Jersey stands firm in its defense of reproductive freedom thanks to leaders like Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz."

The legislative package aims to reduce out-of-pocket costs for abortion services and enhance protections for providers and patients. It builds on the existing Freedom of Reproductive Choice Act. Acting Governor Way acknowledged the efforts made by several key figures, saying, “I thank Senator Ruiz, Senate President Nick Scutari, Senator Shirley Turner, and Assemblywoman Shanique Speight for their leadership."

The Acting Governor urged other legislators to support this initiative and advance it to the Governor’s desk.
