Governor Phil Murphy announced changes within the Intergovernmental Affairs department, promoting CeCe Doherty to Director and hiring Kate Barry as an Aide to the Governor. Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Field will continue to lead the team.
“CeCe has been an incredible asset to the Governor’s Office over the last two years and I look forward to seeing all that she accomplishes as the Director of our Intergovernmental Affairs team,” said Governor Murphy. “CeCe’s impressive professional background and her meticulous knowledge of New Jersey’s southern counties will continue to serve our Intergovernmental Affairs team well. I am also thrilled to welcome Kate Barry to the Governor’s Office, and I am confident that under Rob Field’s leadership, this team will continue to succeed and advance the goals of our Administration.”
Doherty joined the Governor's Office in 2022 as a Senior Aide. Her work involved outreach in South Jersey, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills essential for her new role. "Since joining the Governor’s Office in 2022, CeCe has been an invaluable member of our team," said Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Field. "We are also excited to have Kate Barry join our team."
Before her promotion, Doherty worked with elected officials across southern New Jersey counties and held positions with various political organizations and nonprofits. She graduated from Brigham Young University in 2015 and began her career in Egg Harbor Township.
Barry joined as an Aide in July 2024 after serving as a Constituent Aide for Somerset County Commissioners. She holds a master’s degree from University College London and has experience with environmental nonprofits. Her responsibilities include outreach for Hunterdon, Sussex, and Warren Counties.
The department looks forward to advancing its objectives under this new leadership structure.
