Randy Mastro, the attorney representing the State of New Jersey, has issued a statement criticizing the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and its leadership under Janno Lieber. Mastro expressed concerns about the financial management of the MTA, highlighting significant issues such as revenue losses and cost overruns.

"Under Janno Lieber, the MTA is a mismanaged mess—plagued by $700 million in lost revenue due to fare evasion, cost overruns, and a loss of public confidence in the agency’s ability to function," said Mastro. He accused Lieber of attempting to address these financial challenges by imposing an "unfair and unpopular fee on hardworking New Jersey commuters."

Mastro argued that this congestion pricing strategy was "poorly designed and insufficiently thought through from the beginning." The statement reflects ongoing tensions between New Jersey officials and the MTA regarding transportation policies affecting commuters.
