Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) have introduced an expansion to the state's Responsible Gaming initiatives. This enhancement allows individuals who wish to self-exclude from gambling at physical casinos to do so online via the DGE website, eliminating the necessity for travel or video conferencing.
"While gambling can be fun for some, it is not for everyone, and I’m committed to helping those who want a more proactive approach to managing their gaming. Expanding our self-exclusion portal makes it easier for those who wish to prevent their entry to a casino to do so," stated Attorney General Platkin. He commended the DGE team for facilitating this improvement.
Mary Jo Flaherty, Interim Director of DGE, emphasized the importance of accessibility in responsible gaming efforts: "Making the self-exclusion process more accessible is a critical step in our ongoing commitment to responsible gaming. This new online option empowers individuals with a private and efficient way to make decisions about their habits, ensuring they have the resources they need to prioritize their well-being."
The tool offers 24/7 access, enabling users to decide from home securely and privately. The initiative builds on existing options that allow exclusion from internet gaming platforms as well.
Key features include:
- Convenience: Accessible 24/7 through a user-friendly portal.
- Confidentiality: Secure protection of personal information.
- Flexibility: Options remain for video conference or in-person exclusion.
- Comprehensive Options: Exclusion requests can cover both internet and brick-and-mortar venues.
This development aligns with DGE's mission of promoting safe and responsible gaming within New Jersey.
