Governor Phil Murphy announced that over $2.1 billion was distributed to more than 1.8 million New Jersey homeowners and renters during the most recent ANCHOR program, making it the largest property tax relief program in State history. The Governor expressed his gratitude, stating, "Together with our partners in the Legislature, and through the non-stop efforts of Treasury’s Division of Taxation, we have delivered roughly $2 billion to hardworking homeowners and renters for the second consecutive year."
State Treasurer Elizabeth Maher Muoio also commended the effort, thanking the staff at the Division of Taxation for their dedication in processing applications and distributing benefits. Muoio acknowledged their hard work in ensuring nearly two million New Jerseyans received crucial property tax relief.
Senate President Nick Scutari highlighted the importance of the ANCHOR program in providing direct tax relief to homeowners and renters, stating, “We are providing the highest level of property tax relief in history for homeowners and renters throughout the state."
In response to a recent Supreme Court case threatening to restrict access to reproductive medications, Governor Murphy thanked Attorney General Matt Platkin for leading the charge in supporting reproductive rights. Attorney General Platkin emphasized the significance of evidence-based healthcare, urging the Supreme Court to reject limitations on medication abortion.
Governor Murphy also announced an expansion of income eligibility for prescription drug assistance programs, aiming to provide relief to more older adults and individuals with disabilities. Commissioner Sarah Adelman encouraged eligible residents to apply for savings programs, stating, “Prescription drug costs can really add up, especially if you are on a fixed income.”
First Lady Tammy Murphy celebrated the success of the 19th Nurture NJ Family Festival, which offered essential services for expectant and new moms and families. She expressed her enthusiasm for the support provided to New Jersey's mothers and babies, highlighting the event's impact in connecting families with vital resources.
Furthermore, Governor Murphy appointed Dave Cole as the Chief Innovation Officer to drive innovation in the state. Cole expressed his honor in leading the Office of Innovation and emphasized the importance of responsive government services in uplifting communities. Former Chief Innovation Officer, Beth Simone Noveck, transitioned to the role of Chief AI Strategist, expressing confidence in Cole's ability to continue advancing innovation in New Jersey.
