Jay Shetty, known for his bestselling books and the acclaimed podcast "On Purpose," will deliver the Class Day address to Princeton University's seniors on May 26 at Cannon Green. Class Day, organized annually by the senior class, features student speeches, the recognition of class contributions, and the induction of honorary class members. The event takes place one day before the University's Commencement.

Shetty's podcast "On Purpose" brings together thought leaders, politicians, artists, musicians, and athletes to discuss topics focusing on well-being, mental health, and leading a purposeful life. It has been a top listen on platforms like Spotify and Apple and has received multiple podcasting awards.

Class Day Committee members Venezia Garza, Gil Joseph, Kelly Park, and Ben Wachspress announced Shetty's selection as the speaker in a video message to their classmates. They said he was chosen for understanding the importance of community, mental health, and meaningful relationships. Ben Wachspress, the Class of 2025 president, expressed anticipation for Shetty's insights, stating, "Before we step into the world, it will be nice to hear from somebody who can help us better understand ourselves but also how to connect with the people around us."

Shetty's background includes three years of study as a Hindu monk in India and the UK following his graduation from Bayes Business School. He has authored two New York Times bestsellers: "Think Like a Monk: Train Your Mind for Peace and Purpose Every Day" and "8 Rules of Love: How to Find It, Keep It, and Let It Go.”

In the announcement video, Gil Joseph highlighted Shetty's ability to use his platform "to bring together leaders across fields to reflect on important questions such as 'how do we show up as our authentic selves?' or 'how do we overcome challenges?'"

Shetty began his public career with his video channel in 2016, and he is noted for his roles as an entrepreneur and a meditation app officer. His work has earned him recognition from Forbes, People magazine, and Adweek, as well as a listing among "The 40(ish) Most Powerful People in Podcasting" by The Hollywood Reporter.
