The University community, with the support of volunteers from various departments and the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), successfully raised $87,642.30 during the 2024 United Way Campaign. The funds will aid the United Way of Greater Mercer County’s initiatives in education, financial stability, food insecurity, and health.

A total of forty-four employees participated as campaign volunteers across more than 25 University departments and at PPPL. They organized fundraising events and supply drives to benefit United Way programs. Contributions amounted to $77,185 from faculty, staff, and retirees—$64,660 from the main campus, $5,100 from PPPL, and $7,425 from retirees.

The University matched donations with 15 cents per dollar for payroll deductions and 10 cents per dollar for other gifts, contributing an additional $10,457.30. Employees chose to allocate their donations directly to specific United Way programs or to the Community Impact Fund.

Donations supported initiatives such as providing meals through the Strike Out Hunger campaign, supplying education kits for local children, funding college admission support services, and offering resources for parents before and after childbirth. All contributions will be directed towards United Way programs in Mercer County or donors’ home communities or other designated health and human services agencies.
