Princeton University has published its 2023-24 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Annual Report titled "An Inclusive Princeton." The report underscores the institution's dedication to fostering an environment where all community members can succeed and feel a sense of belonging.

President Christopher L. Eisgruber emphasized the importance of diversity in maintaining the excellence of leading research universities like Princeton. He stated, “The excellence of America’s leading research universities, including Princeton, depends not only on attracting talented people from all backgrounds but also on ensuring that they can thrive on our campuses.” Eisgruber also acknowledged the efforts of campus community members who have worked to enhance access, encourage scholarly innovation, and embrace diversity as essential elements of the Princeton experience.

The report details ongoing and new initiatives in climate, equity, and inclusion. These include the Rose Castle Society, which brings together students from diverse backgrounds to learn about collaboration across differences; academic collaborations through the Princeton Alliance for Collaborative Research and Innovation with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); and outreach programs like the Program for Community College Engagement aimed at strengthening partnerships with New Jersey community colleges.

Additionally, demographic and climate data concerning students, staff, faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and academic professionals are presented in the report. It provides a snapshot of various university programs open to all community members.

This year's report introduces new focus areas: enhancing accessibility in physical and digital spaces; building relationships with Native American and Indigenous communities through academic initiatives; expanding programs for transfer and military-affiliated students; and supporting campus community members from diverse faith-based backgrounds.

Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity Michele Minter and Associate Provost for Institutional Diversity and Inclusion Shawn Maxam highlighted future plans to continue promoting a sense of belonging through educational programs. They concluded by stating that “The University will continue to invest in resources to pursue our mission of excellence while fostering a vibrant campus community for Princetonians of all backgrounds.”
