Attorney General Platkin establishes TRUST Commission to enhance government transparency

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has announced the formation of a new TRUST Commission aimed at enhancing transparency and reliability within the New Jersey government. The commission's mission is to propose strategies for the Office of the Attorney General to eliminate corruption, promote transparency, and strengthen public trust.

The TRUST (Transparency and Reliability Uniting to Secure Trust) Commission will conduct listening sessions across New Jersey to gather public input. Details about these sessions will be available soon.

“Right now, too many people in our State feel that the wealthy and well-connected play by a different set of rules. But it does not have to be this way,” stated Attorney General Platkin. “Since day one of my tenure, my office has fought to secure trust in our system and root out corruption. We have increased transparency in law enforcement, created new offices dedicated to regulating and holding powerful industries to account, and made prosecuting public corruption a priority. But I know we can do more.”

The commission comprises 13 members selected for their expertise and commitment to fostering a fair governmental system. These members include community advocates, scholars, former judiciary members, and experienced prosecutors.

Alongside Attorney General Platkin, the commission members are:

- Sue Altman, State Director for U.S. Senator Andy Kim

- Charles Boyer, Pastor of Greater Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church in Trenton

- Ronald Chen, Professor at Rutgers University

- Jennifer Davenport, Deputy General Counsel at PSEG

- John Farmer Jr., University Professor at Rutgers University

- Paul Fishman, Partner at Arnold & Porter

- Jeannine LaRue, Partner at Moxie Strategies

- Virginia Long, retired NJ Supreme Court Justice

- Edward Neafsey, Adjunct Professor at Rutgers Law School in Newark

- Hetty Rosenstein, former NJ State Director for the Communications Workers of America

- Edwin Stier, member of Stier Anderson LLC

- Debbie Walsh, Director of the Center for American Women and Politics

The TRUST Commission convened its first meeting today. Attorney General Platkin has requested that the commission complete its work and submit a report with recommendations within six months.
