The TCNJ Foundation has announced a new fundraising campaign titled "For the Love of Community," aimed at financing the design and construction of The Pavilion at TCNJ. This multi-purpose venue is set to offer a versatile space for both indoor and outdoor activities, benefiting both the college and the wider community.

The Pavilion will serve as a rehearsal space, classroom, meeting area, and host for concerts, theater performances, lectures, summer arts festivals, and various alumni and student events. John Donohue, vice president for college advancement, stated that "the pavilion’s open, modern design will provide additional resources to the campus and local communities." He emphasized its role in fostering interdisciplinary connections among students, faculty, staff, partners, and guests.

Fundraising efforts are underway with significant contributions already pledged. Former TCNJ faculty member Herbert “Buddy” Mayo has committed to a $1 million challenge grant. Additionally, the TCNJ Alumni Association has pledged $350,000 towards architectural design costs.

The building's design will focus on flexibility and sustainability while ensuring efficient use of space. Acoustics and performance technology are also prioritized features. Colleen Sears, chair of TCNJ’s music department, expressed enthusiasm about the project: “We are thrilled that The Pavilion at TCNJ will provide the students of our growing music department with an acoustically safe, state-of-the-art rehearsal space.” She highlighted its potential to offer diverse classroom and performance experiences.

A covered multipurpose outdoor seating area will be an integral part of The Pavilion's functionality. The fundraising campaign is expected to last between 12 to 18 months with hopes for completion by 2026.
