Today, it was announced that U.S. Senator Bob Menendez has informed Governor Murphy of his decision to resign from the Senate, effective August 20, 2024.
Governor Murphy responded to the resignation with a statement: “Today, I received a letter from Senator Bob Menendez informing me of his intention to resign effective August 20, 2024."
The Governor also addressed the next steps following this development: “I will exercise my duty to make a temporary appointment to the United States Senate to ensure the people of New Jersey have the representation they deserve.”
