Attorney General Platkin, New Jersey Racing Commission Announce Wagering at Haskell Stakes Sets New Record

TRENTON — Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the New Jersey Racing Commission today announced that the total handle for the Haskell Stakes held Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Monmouth Park set a Haskell day record.

The total handle of $21,748,294 was nearly 2 percent larger than the previous record of $21,359,642, which was set last year.

The Monmouth Park crowd of 38,976 was the largest at the racetrack since 60,983 attended in 2015 to see Triple Crown winner American Pharoah’s victory.

The $1 million Grade 1 NYRA Bets Haskell Stakes was won by Dornoch. As a result of winning the Haskell, Dornoch has qualified for a free spot in the $7 million Breeders’ Cup Classic at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in California in November.
