The Alfred P. Sloan Foundation has announced the selection of four Princeton professors as 2025 Sloan Research Fellows. The honorees are Alexandra Amon, Jason Klusowski, Lue Pan, and Maria Micaela Sviatschi.

Adam Falk, president of the foundation, remarked on the significance of the fellowship: "The Sloan Research Fellows represent the very best of early-career science, embodying the creativity, ambition and rigor that drive discovery forward. These extraordinary scholars are already making significant contributions, and we are confident they will shape the future of their fields in remarkable ways."

The fellowship acknowledges innovative early-career researchers across seven scientific and technical disciplines: chemistry, computer science, Earth system science, economics, mathematics, neuroscience, and physics. This year’s cohort includes 126 researchers from over a thousand nominations annually. Each recipient is awarded $75,000 to support their research over two years.

Since its inception in 1955, 252 faculty members from Princeton have been recipients of Sloan fellowships. The fellows are nominated by their institutions and selected by an independent panel based on "their research accomplishments, creativity and potential to become a leader in their field," according to the press release. Notably among past fellows is John Hopfield who received a Nobel Prize in physics last year.

Alexandra Amon is an assistant professor in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences at Princeton University who received her fellowship in physics. Her work focuses on cosmology using large-scale galaxy surveys to study dark matter and energy along with universe structure.

Jason Klusowski is an assistant professor in Operations Research & Financial Engineering at Princeton who was awarded a fellowship in mathematics. His research applies statistical machine learning to complex models with interests spanning data science to network modeling.

Lue Pan serves as an assistant professor in Mathematics at Princeton where he was recognized with a fellowship for his work involving algebraic number theory including p-adic aspects of Langlands program.

Maria Micaela Sviatschi is an assistant professor specializing in economics and public affairs at Princeton School of Public and International Affairs. She was honored for her research focusing on labor development economics with emphasis on human capital and crime dynamics.
