Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for New Jersey’s 12th district, has voiced strong criticism of the Republican budget proposal through a series of tweets. Her statements highlight potential impacts on her constituents and underscore concerns about economic inequality.
On February 11, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman tweeted that "The Republican budget proposal is a rip off of epic proportions." She detailed that under this plan, "the average ACA recipient in my district would see their premiums go up by $1,440 - a 54% increase," while noting that "the richest 0.1% of earners will get a $314,266 tax cut."
Later the same day, she addressed Medicaid concerns in another tweet: "Over 100,000 New Jerseyans in my district rely on Medicaid." She warned that "under the Republican budget, their access to care will be at risk," as it proposes spending "$2 trillion creating new tax loopholes for billionaire donors, wealthy CEOs and large corporations."
In a subsequent tweet on February 11, she highlighted issues related to nutrition assistance: "In my district, roughly 23,000 New Jerseyans rely on nutrition assistance to help feed themselves and their families." She argued that the Republican budget plan would jeopardize this support to allow "their wealthy donors [to] pay less taxes."
