Acting Governor Tahesha Way has declared a State of Emergency in New Jersey, effective from 6:00 p.m. on August 9, 2024. This decision comes as the state braces for severe weather conditions resulting from Tropical Storm Debby. The storm is expected to bring heavy rain, high winds, and flash flooding.
Executive Order No. 364 applies to all 21 counties in New Jersey. Acting Governor Way advises residents to remain indoors and avoid driving during the storm's duration. "I have declared a State of Emergency starting at 6:00 p.m. today, August 9, 2024, due to the severe weather impacts caused by Tropical Storm Debby," said Acting Governor Tahesha Way. "I urge all residents to stay indoors and off of the roads until the storm passes. If you must drive, slow down and use extra caution."
