Governor Phil Murphy has introduced a new website designed to assist municipalities and solar developers in planning, funding, and completing solar projects on capped landfills. This initiative is part of New Jersey's broader strategy to achieve a 100 percent green economy. The Governor also signed legislation aimed at enhancing historic preservation and promoting the redevelopment of brownfields into solar energy facilities.

"In New Jersey, we have set the ambitious goal of delivering a 100 percent green economy because we know how important it is to build a strong foundation for renewable energy," said Governor Murphy. "With the launch of the Landfill to Solar website, we are putting all our resources in one place so municipalities and developers can leverage otherwise unusable land into renewable energy sites."

The Landfill to Solar website provides resources from New Jersey’s Board of Public Utilities (BPU), Economic Development Authority (EDA), and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). It offers guidance for initiating and completing solar projects while highlighting tools like DEP’s Solar Siting Analysis Mapping Tool.

In other developments, the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has been awarded $50 million over five years through a Comprehensive Literacy State Development grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant aims to enhance literacy skills among students across New Jersey.

"New Jersey has always been a leader in education, and this grant from the U.S. Department of Education is a powerful affirmation of our commitment to excellence," said Governor Murphy.

Additionally, Commissioner Sarah Adelman announced that Human Services will allocate over $3.4 million in grants for community-based housing for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities transitioning out of nursing homes.

"This funding will provide highly-specialized support to meet the complex needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are transitioning out of nursing facilities," stated Commissioner Adelman.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin revealed that New Jersey, along with California and Pennsylvania, co-led two amicus briefs defending Title IX protections against gender-based harassment and sex discrimination in federal appellate courts.

"In a free and fair country, all students should be protected from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity," said Attorney General Platkin.
