Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and a delegation from New Jersey visited Ottawa on September 7, 2024, to enhance partnerships and economic connections with Canada. This visit marks the beginning of a four-day, three-city mission organized by Choose New Jersey. The mission aims to bolster ties in sectors like film and technology while seeking international investment opportunities.

The delegation's Canadian Economic Mission commenced with meetings involving the American Chamber of Commerce in Canada (AmCham Canada) and Invest Ottawa. These discussions are intended to set the stage for future collaborations.

In another meeting, Governor Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and Tim Sullivan, CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, engaged with Patrick Duxbury from the Inuit Development Corporation Association (IDCA). The IDCA focuses on policies impacting Inuit development corporations across Canada. It advocates for sustainable economic practices and Indigenous ownership in key sectors to ensure long-term prosperity for Inuit businesses. Their initiatives aim at job creation, infrastructure enhancement, and social-economic development within Indigenous regions.

Additionally, Governor Murphy and First Lady Tammy Murphy had dinner with Ambassador David Cohen and delegates from Choose New Jersey. This event served as an opportunity to discuss shared interests and explore potential areas of collaboration between New Jersey and Canada.
