Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey, and CGI Technologies and Solutions, Inc., based in Montréal, have formalized an academic affiliation agreement. This collaboration is part of Choose New Jersey’s Governor-led mission to Canada and aims to enhance professional development for staff and students, establish research opportunities, and provide internships.

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy commented on the partnership: “This partnership between Rowan University and CGI is a great example of how New Jersey continues to foster innovation and build strong public-private collaborations that benefit both our students and our economy.” He emphasized the agreement's potential to support South Jersey's growth while strengthening the state's leadership in technology and business sectors.

CGI is a major IT and business consulting firm with 400 locations worldwide, including offices in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Rowan University President Ali A. Houshmand highlighted the agreement's alignment with Rowan’s global outreach efforts. “We have a culture at Rowan University of working directly with firms to meet their needs while expanding opportunities for researchers and our students,” he said.

Mike Reagan, Senior Vice President of Consulting Services at CGI, expressed enthusiasm about the initiative: "We are excited to partner with Rowan University in this forward-thinking initiative that aligns perfectly with CGI's commitment to fostering innovation and developing a highly skilled workforce.”

The partnership includes plans for paid internships across various disciplines such as engineering, computer science, math, and business. It also involves guest lecturing opportunities, joint research projects, and other collaborative efforts by staff and faculty.

Wesley Mathews from Choose New Jersey stated: “This collaboration between Rowan University and CGI is a testament to New Jersey's dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation, education, and business growth.” The affiliation may lead to certificate programs aimed at regional workforce development.
