Governor Phil Murphy has mandated that U.S. and New Jersey flags be flown at half-staff at all state buildings and facilities on September 11, 2024. This act is in memory of the nearly 3,000 individuals who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of 2001, including almost 700 residents from New Jersey.

Governor Murphy stated, "On the twenty-third anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, we must continue to remember and mourn the lives of those we lost." He emphasized honoring the victims and acknowledging the sacrifices made by first responders who demonstrated strength and resilience. "We will continue to preserve their legacy by defending our democracy," he added.

The directive is part of Executive Order No. 367.
