Governor Phil Murphy is set to lead a delegation on a five-day economic mission to the United Kingdom in November. The trip, organized by Choose New Jersey, will include visits to London and Cambridge. The focus of the mission is to enhance New Jersey's connections with the UK and explore partnerships and investment opportunities in sectors like life sciences and technology.
"We are excited to lead this economic mission to the United Kingdom to bolster New Jersey’s relationships with our friends and partners across the pond," stated Governor Murphy. He expressed his eagerness to meet UK officials and industry leaders, emphasizing that international investments are crucial for New Jersey's innovation economy.
Wesley Mathews, President and CEO of Choose New Jersey, highlighted the significance of this initiative: "The United Kingdom is one of New Jersey’s top markets for business attraction and economic cooperation." He added that strengthening international ties could drive investment and increase trade beneficial for both regions.
The agenda includes meetings with government officials, regional leaders, prominent companies, trade associations, academic institutions, and major investors. Networking opportunities will span key sectors such as technology, life sciences, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and fintech. Veterans Day will be observed by the delegation on November 11 before their return.
Joining Governor Murphy will be First Lady Tammy Murphy; Wesley Mathews; and Tim Sullivan from the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. The group departs on November 6th and returns on November 12th.
