Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way and the New Jersey-India Commission continued their economic mission in Hyderabad, India. The focus of this mission is to strengthen partnerships between New Jersey and India's academic institutions and entrepreneurs, particularly in the life science and technology industries with an emphasis on startups.
The delegation attended several key events during their visit. One significant event was the signing of a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between T-Hub, a leading startup incubator in India, and the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII). Shri Dduddilla Sridhar Babu, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications for Telangana, also attended. Lieutenant Governor Way stated, “These two institutions...work to uplift innovators...we are not only advancing innovation but also deepening the cultural and economic bonds between New Jersey and India.” This MOU aims to enhance innovation and technological growth partnerships.
Choose New Jersey participated in another MOU signing between Rutgers University and Tamil Nadu Technology (iTNT) Hub. This agreement will promote collaboration opportunities in research, development, and entrepreneurship within deep-technology sectors such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
Additionally, United Way of Hyderabad hosted a presentation showcasing regional initiatives. Kiran Handa-Gaudioso from United Way of New Jersey addressed attendees about shared commitments to creating change.
A networking dinner with Indian technology leaders organized by NASSCOM provided further opportunity for discussions on business expansion into New Jersey. Lieutenant Governor Way engaged in a fireside chat moderated by NASSCOM President Rajesh Nambiar. Tarun Gupta presented insights into New Jersey’s tech landscape while investors shared success stories.
Lastly, the delegation visited Saint Francis College for Women affiliated with Osmania University. They engaged with students through performances and dialogues during a Town Hall meeting led by Lieutenant Governor Way.
