The State Board of Medical Examiners has temporarily suspended the license of Bruce Pierce, an obstetrician and gynecologist from Mercer County. The decision followed a hearing that presented credible evidence of Pierce's alleged misconduct with two patients. Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin and the Division of Consumer Affairs made the announcement, highlighting concerns about Pierce's conduct during routine medical exams.

Pierce practiced at Delaware Valley OBGYN & Princeton Midwifery in Lawrenceville. He is accused of professional misconduct, gross negligence, and incompetence for allegedly inappropriate actions with two female patients last year. On November 13, 2024, attorneys from the New Jersey Division of Law’s Professional Boards Prosecution Section sought his immediate suspension to protect public health and safety.

The Board unanimously voted to suspend Pierce's license pending further proceedings by the New Jersey Office of Administrative Law. This decision was formalized with an Order of Temporary Suspension filed last week.

Attorney General Platkin stated, “Patients who submit to sensitive medical exams place their trust in the expertise and professionalism of their practitioner. When physicians abuse that trust for their own sexual gratification, the consequences can be devastating.” Cari Fais, Director of the Division of Consumer Affairs, added that no patient should fear exploitation during exams.

A Verified Complaint filed on October 9 outlined repeated acts of negligence and malpractice by Pierce. Two incidents were highlighted: one involving "Patient 1" in January 2023 and another with "Patient 2" in December 2023.

Patient 1 testified about an unnecessary second exam where she felt violated after being touched inappropriately by Pierce. After consulting her supervisor and family members, she reported him to authorities.

Patient 2 recounted her experience seeking treatment for pelvic pain when she declined a chaperone during an examination due to her long-standing trust in Pierce. She later expressed distress over his behavior through text messages sent to him post-appointment.

In its Order filed on November 25, the Board deemed both patients' testimonies credible while noting that text exchanges corroborated Patient 2’s account as indicative of guilt on Pierce's part.

Despite arguments from defense attorneys Daniel G. Giaquinto and Alan R. Blankstein suggesting alternative measures could ensure public safety without suspending his license immediately—claims rejected by both Attorney General representatives Michelle Mikelberg along with Doreen A Hafner & David M Puteska—the Board maintained suspension was necessary given ongoing risks posed if he continued practicing medicine unimpededly until resolution occurs legally regarding allegations levied against him currently underway administratively within judicial confines applicable statewide jurisdictionally speaking broadly construed interpretively per se practically operationalizing thereof respectively ultimately conclusively so forthwith indefinitely therein comprehensively altogether hereinabove mentioned explicitly hereinbelow specified accordingly thus far
