The Princeton University Board of Trustees has confirmed the addition of 22 new faculty members, encompassing various disciplines. Among these appointments are five full professors, one associate professor, and 16 assistant professors.
Professor Mircea Dincă joins the chemistry department as the Alexander Stewart 1886 Professor of Chemistry, effective January 16, 2025. Dincă comes from MIT where he was a professor and held the W.M. Keck Professorship in Energy. His accolades include a Brown Foundation Investigator Award in 2023 and a Blavatnik National Award in Chemistry in 2021.
Navroz Kersi Dubash has been appointed to the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs and the High Meadows Environmental Institute as of September 1. Previously at New Delhi's Centre for Policy Research, Dubash is recognized for his contributions to environmental policy and his role with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
In economics, Mira Frick began her tenure on July 1. Formerly an associate professor at Yale University, Frick focuses on microeconomic theory among other areas. Her academic achievements include a Sloan Research Fellowship.
Ryota Iijima also joined Princeton's economics department on July 1 alongside Mira Frick from Yale University. He specializes in microeconomics and has received a Sloan Research Fellowship for his work.
Khalil Gibran Muhammad will join Princeton's African American studies department effective January 1, 2025. Coming from Harvard University, Muhammad is noted for his historical research on race and public policy.
Simon Jäger has been named an associate professor specializing in microeconomics starting January 16, 2025. He previously served at MIT and was CEO of Germany’s IZA Institute of Labor Economics.
Among those joining as assistant professors are Daniel Chen in economics; Jialin Ding in computer science; George Ghanim in molecular biology; Sneha D. Goenka in electrical engineering; Christina Kim focusing on cellular engineering; Jamil Kochai specializing in creative writing; Liuchi Li studying granular physics; Zhuang Liu working with artificial intelligence; Kailin Mesa concentrating on immunology; Manoel Horta Ribeiro involved with data science; Fedor Sandomirskiy exploring microeconomic theory; Rachel Saunders with expertise in Japanese art history; Dhruv Shah focusing on artificial intelligence applications; Ravi Shankar dealing with applied mathematics problems; Evan Soltas interested in urban economics, and Paul Vierthaler who specializes in Chinese studies.
