Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin issued a statement on June 13, 2024, regarding the Supreme Court's decision in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine.

"We are thankful that as a result of today’s Supreme Court decision, mifepristone remains available for abortion care and miscarriage management nationwide," Platkin said. "The Supreme Court correctly and unanimously found that this case should never have moved forward in the first place—because the challengers were not harmed by the FDA’s actions and therefore had no right to sue."

Platkin emphasized the ongoing threats to reproductive care, stating, "But make no mistake. Extremists will stop at nothing to attack reproductive care, and those efforts have far-reaching implications beyond reproductive healthcare." He recounted his recent visit to Texas where he heard from patients and providers about the significant health risks they face due to continuous attacks on reproductive health care.

Platkin affirmed his commitment alongside Governor Phil Murphy to protect reproductive rights in New Jersey: "Together with Governor Phil Murphy, we will continue to fight to protect reproductive rights to ensure that we never see the same nightmare here in New Jersey."
