Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has appointed Assistant Attorney General Elizabeth Vogelsong-Parvin as the new Acting County Prosecutor for Gloucester County, succeeding Christine Hoffman, who will retire on July 1, 2024.

Vogelsong-Parvin currently leads the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice’s (DCJ) Human Trafficking Unit and has been in this role since April 24, 2023. She has prosecuted several high-profile criminal cases, including an alleged operator of a human trafficking network in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“Liz Vogelsong-Parvin has led successful, priority prosecutions within the Attorney General’s Office, securing indictments, guilty pleas, and lengthy sentences for defendants in heinous and often complicated cases,” said Attorney General Platkin. “She approached this difficult work with a trauma-informed and victim-centric focus. Her extensive prosecutorial experience makes Liz well-qualified to lead the chief law enforcement agency in Gloucester County.”

Platkin also expressed gratitude to Christine Hoffman for her service over the past four years. “She has been an asset who had a meaningful impact and steadily guided the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office through a period of challenges and transition,” he stated.

“I’m honored that the Attorney General has chosen me to lead the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office,” said Vogelsong-Parvin. “I am looking forward to working with investigators and prosecutors within the office, as well as chiefs of police and law enforcement officers across the county.”

Before joining DCJ, Vogelsong-Parvin held various roles within the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office starting from September 2005. She supervised trial teams for six years as an assistant prosecutor and worked with the Special Victims’ Unit dealing with sexual assault and human trafficking cases. As a senior trial attorney, she led more than 25 jury trials including major homicide cases.

In recognition of her efforts in prosecuting serious crimes, she received the Outstanding Career Advocacy award from the County Prosecutors Association of New Jersey in 2015.

Vogelsong-Parvin is a graduate of Rowan University and Villanova University’s School of Law. She previously served as President of the Cumberland County Bar Association.

Outgoing prosecutor Christine Hoffman was appointed to lead Gloucester County's office in March 2020 after serving two decades at DCJ where she handled statewide violent crimes, sex offenses, white-collar crimes, and appeals before state and federal courts.
