Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has announced the appointment of Anthony Picione as the Acting Warren County Prosecutor, following the resignation of James Pfeiffer. Picione, who has served as the deputy director of the Office of Public Integrity and Accountability, is described by Platkin as a dedicated career prosecutor who has earned the public's trust.
In response to his appointment, Picione expressed his honor and commitment to serving the residents of Warren County, stating, “I look forward to helping ensure the safety and well-being of the residents of Warren County and its visitors and to seek justice for victims.” He also highlighted his experience in fighting corruption and his dedication to serving the people of New Jersey.
Picione's extensive career in the Division of Criminal Justice has focused on prosecuting white-collar crimes, particularly those involving public officials and funds. Some of his notable cases include the successful prosecution of individuals involved in public contract fraud, money laundering, and public corruption, resulting in significant recoveries for the State.
Apart from his prosecutorial work, Picione is also involved in teaching and training initiatives, serving as an instructor for various legal and law enforcement institutions.
Picione holds a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a B.A. from Drew University. Prior to his current role, he worked as an associate at Pitney Hardin LLP.
With Picione assuming the role of Acting Prosecutor, the residents of Warren County can expect dedicated leadership in upholding public safety and seeking justice for the community.
