Governor Phil Murphy expressed gratitude towards the teams at Montgomery McCracken Walker & Rhoads and Boston Consulting Group for their comprehensive review of the State's response to COVID-19, stating, "This pandemic, which took the lives of over 33,000 New Jersey residents and well over one million Americans, was the greatest crisis our State has ever faced."
Acting Commissioner of Education Kevin Dehmer highlighted the importance of high-quality preschool programs, stating, “We know that high-quality preschool sets the foundation for a child’s success and is linked to improved student outcomes for years to come.”
Governor Murphy, in collaboration with the Biden-Harris Administration and congressional delegation, announced nearly $180 million in funding through the U.S. Treasury’s Capital Project Fund to support various infrastructure projects in New Jersey aimed at promoting public health, digital connectivity, and equitable access to critical services.
First Lady Tammy Murphy announced that New Jersey was awarded $25 million to support the construction of the Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Center in Trenton, a critical component of the Nurture NJ Maternal and Infant Health Strategic Plan.
Furthermore, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin unveiled a comprehensive dashboard summarizing information related to applications for handgun carry permits in New Jersey and announced the availability of "Gun Free Zone" decals for businesses to prohibit firearms on their premises.
With these initiatives and investments, New Jersey continues to prioritize public health, education, infrastructure, and maternal healthcare to create a safer and more equitable future for its residents.
