Trenton, NJ - In a statement released today, Governor Murphy expressed his satisfaction with the confirmation of U.S. District Court Judge Edward Kiel for the District of New Jersey. The Governor commended Judge Kiel's background and dedication to justice, stating, "Today’s confirmation of Edward Kiel as a U.S. District Court Judge for the District of New Jersey marks another outstanding addition to our federal judiciary. Judge Kiel brings a demonstrated commitment to justice and years of experience as both an accomplished lawyer and magistrate judge. I congratulate him on his confirmation."

Governor Murphy also took the opportunity to extend his gratitude to President Biden and the United States Senators involved in Judge Kiel's selection process. He emphasized their efforts in appointing exceptional individuals like Judge Kiel who represent the diverse legal talent present in the state, saying, "I also want to thank President Biden and our United States Senators for their selection of Judge Kiel, and their continuing commitment to filling our federal judicial vacancies with exceptional attorneys who reflect the rich diversity of our state."
