Governor Phil Murphy expressed his gratitude for the nearly $180 million in federal funds allocated to New Jersey for various infrastructure projects. He stated, “Building a stronger, fairer, and more resilient New Jersey in a manner that’s equitable is a collaborative effort between many partners, all of whom have a stake in the success of our communities."

U.S. Senator Cory Booker also highlighted the significance of the funding, emphasizing, “These are essential investments in New Jersey’s future, expanding access to high-speed internet, rebuilding schools, making it safer for mothers giving birth, and more."

Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Wally Adeyemo underscored the importance of the funding in expanding economic opportunity, stating, “Lowering costs for affordable internet is critical to meeting the Biden-Harris Administration’s goal of expanding economic opportunity in communities across the country."

The funding, part of the American Rescue Plan's Capital Project Fund, aims to support critical services and infrastructure projects in New Jersey. Several initiatives will benefit from this funding, including the creation of the State’s First Maternal and Infant Health Center, a new Community School, greater broadband and Wi-Fi access, and other essential services.

The New Jersey Broadband Infrastructure Deployment Equity program, the Connected Bus program by NJ TRANSIT, a new Union City Community School, and the Maternal and Infant Health Innovation Center in Trenton are among the projects set to receive funding.

Furthermore, the State Library’s Building Community Resilience project and the North Jersey Community Research Initiative will also benefit from the funds, addressing disparities in access to education, health monitoring, and community services.

The allocation of $180 million in federal funds reflects a significant investment in New Jersey's infrastructure and aims to enhance the quality of life, economic vitality, and resilience of communities across the state.
