189 coaches at institutions in Mercer County earned $111,485 on average in 2022

Mercer County’s 189 coaches earned an average salary of $111,485 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the second highest average salary per county earned by coaches at New Jersey post-secondary schools during 2022.

Mercer County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Princeton University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $158,648.

Male coaches of men's teams received $117,670 on average in Mercer County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $101,314.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
