Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, has taken to social media to voice her concerns over recent legislative developments. Through a series of tweets, she expressed her discontent with the actions and decisions of her Republican colleagues regarding healthcare coverage and a new GOP bill.

On July 3, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman shared her experiences from traveling across New Jersey, stating that she engaged with constituents in districts represented by her three GOP colleagues who were unavailable. She mentioned speaking with some of the “178,000 people in Rep. Van Drew’s (@Congressman_JVD) district on NJ FamilyCare who may lose coverage.” The full tweet can be accessed here.

Later that day, she tweeted about receiving numerous calls from New Jersey residents seeking guidance on opposing what she described as a “cruel GOP bill.” She urged residents from specific areas such as NJ’s 2nd (South Jersey), 4th (Parts of Monmouth and Ocean Co), or 7th (Hunterdon and Warren Co and parts of Morris, Somerset, Sussex, and Union Co) to take action. The complete tweet is available here.

In another post on the same day, Rep. Watson Coleman announced her decision to vote against what she referred to as the “Big, Ugly Bill.” She criticized the timing and nature of the legislation during a period meant for national reflection and celebration. Her statement emphasized that Republicans appear uninterested in governing inclusively. This tweet can be found here.

Bonnie Watson Coleman was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945 and currently resides in Ewing Township. She graduated from Thomas Edison State University in 1985 with a BA degree.
