Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who has represented New Jersey’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, shared her views on recent legislative activities through a series of tweets. The posts highlight her concerns about healthcare and legislative processes within the House of Representatives.

On July 2, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman expressed concern over the potential impact of policy changes on Medicaid recipients in Rep. Van Drew’s district. She stated, “Rep. Van Drew has 176,000 constituents in Medicaid including 82,000 children and 17,000 seniors. I wonder what they think about this. Wait. I don’t have to wonder. I went and spoke to them earlier this year. They’re furious.”

In a subsequent tweet on July 3, she criticized Republican efforts to pass a controversial bill without broad support from their own party members or the public. She noted, “Republicans can’t seem to convince their own members to pass this bill. Once again, they’re trying to force it through in the middle of the night.” She further mentioned Speaker Johnson’s tactics to push forward legislation despite opposition.

Later that day, Rep. Watson Coleman described an ongoing situation in the House chamber where procedural issues were causing delays and frustrations among legislators. She tweeted, “I’m sitting here in the House chamber watching my colleague try again and again to be recognized – and the Speaker won’t even acknowledge him.” This highlighted her concerns over parliamentary procedures being used to stall progress.

Bonnie Watson Coleman was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945 and resides in Ewing Township. She graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a BA in 1985.
