Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who has served New Jersey’s 12th district in the U.S. Congress since 2015, shared several messages on her social media recently. These posts highlight her engagement with key events and issues affecting her constituents.
On May 15, Rep. Watson Coleman commemorated Peace Officers Memorial Day by expressing her thoughts for the family of Officer Brian Sicknick, a U.S. Capitol Police officer from South River who died defending the Capitol during the January 6th events. “Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, I’m praying for family of Officer Brian Sicknick, a USCP officer and South River native who died defending the Capitol.” She also mentioned introducing a resolution earlier this year condemning the President’s pardon of individuals involved in those events.
Later that day, she announced an upcoming speech to honor Capitol Police officers who protected the Capitol on January 6th, including Officer Sicknick. “Tune in below, I’ll be speaking shortly to honor the Capitol Police officers who defended our Capitol on January 6th – including Officer Brian Sicknick of South River, who gave his life to protect our democracy.”
The following day, May 16, Rep. Watson Coleman addressed the NJ Transit strike that had commenced at midnight. She urged both parties involved to negotiate towards a fair agreement benefitting workers and commuters alike. “Last night at 12:01am the NJ Transit strike went into effect.”
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman has been an active political figure since replacing Rush Holt Jr., previously serving in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010.
