Three student-athletes from The College of New Jersey were recognized on Mar. 23 by the New Jersey Athletic Conference for their recent performances in collegiate sports.

The honors highlight achievements across softball, baseball, and lacrosse, reflecting the impact these athletes have had on their respective teams during the past week of competition.

Maya Knasiak was named Pitcher of the Week in softball after striking out 22 batters over two one-hit shutouts. “Knasiak was nearly untouchable in two starts for the Lions, striking out 22 batters in a pair of one-hit shutouts,” according to the announcement. She also contributed offensively with a .667 batting average and five runs batted in over her two appearances. So far this season, Knasiak has a record of six wins and one loss, an earned run average of 0.56, and has recorded 71 strikeouts in 50 innings pitched.

Austin Hanni received Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors for baseball following his first collegiate start—a complete game with four strikeouts and only four hits allowed against Mount Aloysius. Hanni currently holds opponents to a .164 batting average and maintains an earned run average of 0.51 through six appearances this year.

Abby Williams was selected as Rookie of the Week for lacrosse after posting three caused turnovers each in victories over Babson College and Roanoke College. She also collected three ground balls during Saturday’s win against Roanoke. Williams leads TCNJ with 15 caused turnovers this season, ranking fourth overall within the conference.

These recognitions underscore individual excellence among TCNJ athletes as they continue their seasons.
