The TCNJ wrestling team has achieved a No. 2 ranking in the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) tournament poll as they prepare for a top-10 matchup against Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday night. Several members of the team are recognized among the best in their weight classes nationally.

Hunter Mays is ranked first in the nation at 174 pounds. Juniors Garrett Totten and D.J. Henry hold second place at 133 and 197 pounds, respectively. Matthew Griffin is ranked tenth at 125 pounds, Sam Kotch is eleventh at 149, and Matt Coon stands fifteenth in the heavyweight division.

Mays and Totten are returning All-Americans, while Griffin, Kotch, and Henry were national qualifiers last season.

In Region 3 rankings, Griffin, Mays, and Henry are all first in their respective weight classes. Totten and Coon are ranked second; Kotch is third; Steve Dalling (165) and Jimmy Dolan (184) both hold sixth place.

Vincent Santaniello, a transfer from Pitt who has started his dual match career with a 4-0 record—including three technical falls and one pin—is ranked second in the region at 141 pounds.

TCNJ has started its dual meet season with four consecutive wins. The closest margin of victory so far has been 29 points. Last weekend, three non-starters from TCNJ claimed individual titles at the Wilkes Invitational. The team’s current Midwest trip includes Thursday’s contest against seventh-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater and will conclude with participation in Saturday’s CUW Invitational.
