The TCNJ women’s tennis team recorded a 7-0 victory over Washington College on Mar. 25, maintaining its unbeaten record this season.
The win extends the Lions’ streak to nine matches, which is their longest since an 11-match run during the COVID-shortened 2020-21 season. The team’s current form highlights their dominance in Division III competition and marks four consecutive dual match sweeps.
Gabrielle Brideau and Eleni Dakos both came from a set down to secure three-set singles wins for TCNJ. Gabriella Robinson also won her singles match in a third-set super tiebreaker. In doubles play, Dakos and Brideau teamed up for a quick 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles, while Zoey Albert and Shruti Mannan matched that score at No. 1 doubles to clinch the opening point for the Lions. Elizabeth Ring and Robinson completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 result at No. 3.
In singles, Albert posted a decisive victory at No. 2 with scores of 6-2, 6-1, while Ring secured her match at No.3 by winning 6-2, 6-3. Mannan’s straight sets win (6-4, 6-4) on court four clinched the overall result before three remaining courts went into deciding sets.
Robinson rallied from behind to defeat Jess Wilde in a super breaker (3-6,7-5,10-6) at No.5 singles; Brideau outlasted Eva Kading (6-1,4-6,6-4) on court three; and Dakos sealed the sweep with her comeback against Juanita Arbelaez (5-7,6-2,7-5) on top court.
Several individual milestones were reached: Albert tied former partner Chase Eisenberg for career doubles wins (46), Ring notched her fiftieth total career win with Wednesday’s results, and Robinson now stands at eighty-nine career victories as she aims for one hundred.
Looking ahead, TCNJ opens New Jersey Athletic Conference play against Kean on Saturday before facing Skidmore—ranked fortieth nationally—on Sunday.
