TCNJ women’s swimming and diving wins invitational championship over Stevens

The TCNJ women’s swimming and diving team secured first place at the TCNJ Invitational after strong performances on the final day of competition in Ewing, New Jersey. The Lions overtook Stevens Institute of Technology, who entered the day in first place.

In diving, Beth Evaldi led with a score of 428.20, while Melody Lin followed closely with 389.50 points. Lin also placed third with a score of 376.80. Hannah Simons finished fifth with 370.15 points. Other contributors included Jenna Ringel, who finished seventh (327.80), and Tala Howe in tenth (151.75).

On the swimming side, Sarah Mandy won her second individual event in as many days by posting a time of 17:46.74 in the 1650 Free, with teammate Bella Patti finishing second at 18:25.08. In the 200 Backstroke, Bridget Cleveland claimed first place with a time of 2:09.59 and Shaye Bundonis took second at 2:13.28.

Lilliana Kuball earned third place in the 100 Free (55.23), and Katelyn Gaulin also finished third in the 200 Breaststroke (2:29.33). The relay team of Cleveland, Kuball, Mary Kate Owens, and Katie Mazzacco came second in the 400 Free Relay.

TCNJ concluded the meet with a total score of 1,057.50 points to surpass Stevens’ total of 988 points.

The team’s next scheduled event is a home meet against Rowan University on January 16.
