The TCNJ women’s basketball team marked Senior Day with a decisive 95-55 victory over New Jersey City University (NJCU) on Saturday in Ewing, New Jersey. The win featured significant contributions from both starters and bench players.
Cassidy Brown came off the bench to score a career-high 17 points, leading all scorers. Katie Fricker and Grace Kowalski each added 15 points. Fricker also secured a career-best 14 rebounds, achieving her second double-double in three games. Kowalski contributed a season-high eight assists without any turnovers.
The Lions’ senior trio started the game strong, with Myah Hourigan-Hutton assisting Olivia Magee, who then found Fricker for the opening basket. TCNJ quickly built an 18-point lead following a 17-4 run. The team shot 7-for-7 during this stretch and finished the first quarter ahead 31-15.
Brown helped maintain momentum in the second quarter by scoring eight points as part of an extended run that pushed TCNJ’s lead to as much as 30 points before halftime, which ended with TCNJ ahead 54-25.
NJCU attempted to rally in the third quarter but was stopped by another scoring burst from Brown and her teammates, restoring TCNJ’s large lead. The Lions eventually led by as many as 43 points late in the game.
TCNJ shot nearly 50 percent from the field and made a season-best percentage from three-point range, converting on 14-of-30 attempts. They also held a significant rebounding advantage, outscoring NJCU on second-chance opportunities and dominating in points off turnovers, bench production, and points in the paint.
Brown went 6-for-11 from the floor and made four of seven three-pointers. Fricker finished with five assists and three steals along with her double-double performance. Kowalski set season highs in both scoring and assists.
Meghan Gentile and Autumn John led NJCU with near double-double performances but could not close the gap against TCNJ’s balanced attack.
The Lions’ total of 95 points is their highest since putting up 114 against Rutgers-Camden in 2023, and their margin of victory was their largest over NJCU since 2018.
TCNJ will next play William Paterson on Wednesday, January 21 at 5:30 p.m.
