The TCNJ softball team extended its unbeaten streak in New Jersey Athletic Conference play by sweeping a doubleheader against William Paterson on April 4. The Lions won the first game 8-0, powered by Maya Knasiak’s complete-game shutout, and secured a 3-2 comeback victory in the second game.

These wins are significant as they keep TCNJ at the top of the conference standings and demonstrate strong performances from both pitchers and hitters. In Game 1, Knasiak not only pitched her ninth shutout of the season but also drove in four runs. She now has an impressive streak of over 50 consecutive scoreless innings.

Morgan Estelow contributed three hits and scored three runs in the opener, helping set up an early lead for TCNJ. The Lions’ offense capitalized on key opportunities, with Gianna Vazquez and Grace Brouillard adding to the run total. Knasiak allowed just one hit while striking out nine batters to close out a five-inning win.

Game 2 was more competitive, with William Paterson taking an early two-run lead before TCNJ rallied late. Taylor Menzel tied the game with a two-RBI double in the fourth inning, while Sairah Llano and Knasiak combined to pitch scoreless relief innings that sealed the sweep for TCNJ.

Elizabeth Gosse started Game 2 for TCNJ, pitching nearly five innings before handing off to Llano and then Knasiak for the final outs. Standout performances included Evans going two-for-two with an RBI double and Menzel driving in two runs off her only hit.

Looking ahead, TCNJ will return home on Tuesday, April 7 for a matchup against nationally ranked Rowan University. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., as the Lions aim to continue their winning run.
