The TCNJ softball team achieved two complete-game shutouts in a doubleheader sweep of Rutgers-Camden on March 31, extending its win streak to four games. Pitchers Maya Knasiak and Elizabeth Gosse led the Lions to their 10th and 11th shutouts of the season, respectively.
These wins highlight the team’s strong pitching performance this season. The results are significant as they show both individual and collective improvement, with Knasiak matching her combined total of complete-game shutouts from her previous two seasons.
In the first game, TCNJ defeated Rutgers-Camden 12-0 in five innings. Knasiak extended her scoreless innings streak to over 45 frames, allowing just one hit and striking out eight batters. She also contributed offensively with a home run and two RBIs. Emily Evans added a two-RBI double while Morgan Estelow had a key single that brought in two runs. The Lions scored nine runs in the fourth inning to secure an early victory by run rule.
The second game ended with another shutout as Gosse allowed only one hit across five innings while striking out three batters. Early walks led to TCNJ’s first runs before errors by Rutgers-Camden helped extend the lead throughout the game. Dani Biggio delivered an RBI single late in the contest as TCNJ reached an eight-run advantage, ending proceedings after five innings.
Standout performances included Knasiak’s pitching and hitting contributions in Game 1, along with Evans’ consistent offense across both games. In Game 2, Estelow scored twice and stole four bases while Gosse recorded her third complete-game shutout of the year.
Looking ahead, TCNJ is scheduled for an away doubleheader against William Paterson on Saturday, April 4.
