Amanda Baylock from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) women’s basketball team and Maxim Rychkov from TCNJ track and field have been named as the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Athletes of the Week in their respective sports. The announcement was made by the conference on Monday.
Baylock, a sophomore, received her first career Player of the Week honor after averaging 21 points per game over two matches. She recorded shooting splits of .538/.500/1.000, along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game during this period, helping lead the Lions to two NJAC victories.
She began her week by making three three-point shots as part of a nine-point performance in TCNJ’s win against Stockton, which ended 69-43. In the following game against Kean University, Baylock scored a career-high 33 points and made seven three-pointers while playing only 25 minutes. Both marks are the highest for a TCNJ player since 2021. She currently leads the conference in three-pointers made per game with an average of 3.4 and ranks fifth nationally in Division III, converting at a rate of 38.6%.
Maxim Rychkov also had a record-setting performance during his season debut at the TCNJ Indoor Open meet. He matched the school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.77 seconds before breaking both TCNJ’s and NJAC’s records—previously held by Cheickna Traore—in the 300-meter event with a time of 33.54 seconds, which is now recognized as the third-fastest finish in Division III history.
“Amanda Baylock earns her first career Player of the Week nod following an outstanding stretch in which the sophomore averaged 21 points on .538/.500/1.000 splits along with 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists to guide the Lions to a pair of dominant NJAC wins,” according to information released by TCNJ.
“Playing just 25 minutes against the Cougars, Baylock set career highs in both points (33) and 3-pointers (7), both of which are the most by a TCNJ player since 2021.”
“Rychkov matched the school record in the 60-meter (6.77) before breaking the TCNJ and NJAC record – held by future Olympian Cheickna Traore – and setting the third-fastest finish in Division III history in the 300-meter with his time of 33.54.”
Both athletes’ performances contributed significantly to their teams’ successes during their recent competitions.
