The College of New Jersey reported on March 30 that its community raised more than $670,000 during the 11th annual Day of Giving held on Thursday, March 26. Over 2,000 donors contributed to scholarships and programs supporting TCNJ students.
The event aims to support educational opportunities both inside and outside the classroom for students at The College of New Jersey. The funds will provide expanded resources for student programs across a variety of disciplines.
Christine Buber, director of annual giving, said, “This year’s Day of Giving was defined by a surge of collective energy. Donors at home and from every corner of campus came together to prove that our community’s impact is truly unstoppable.”
According to the college’s summary, $671,702 was raised in total—a record amount for the event—with challenge funds unlocking $329,000. More than 2,046 donors gave gifts to over 100 different programs. Among these contributions were gifts from 979 supporters directed toward TCNJ Athletics and from 79 donors who raised $136,166 for the Educational Opportunity Fund program. Additionally, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences received support from 140 donors—the highest number for any academic school.
Buber said, “Behind every dollar donated is a student who will benefit from expanded resources and support. This annual Day of Giving program reminds us that generosity doesn’t have to be grand to be meaningful.”
The College offers degree programs in areas such as arts, business and engineering according to the official website. The college has also earned recognition with awards such as a Phi Beta Kappa chapter in 2006 according to the official website and an honor from the Council on Undergraduate Research in 2015 according to the official website. TCNJ’s teams have secured numerous NCAA championships according to the official website, reflecting its strong athletics tradition.
