The TCNJ men’s track and field team completed a busy weekend with athletes competing at different events in Staten Island and Boston. Maxim Rychkov continued his strong season by breaking his own program record in the 200-meter dash during the ECAC/IC4A Championships. In Saturday’s preliminaries, Rychkov ran a 21.19, which is currently the fastest non-converted time in Division III this year. He later finished third in Sunday’s final with a time of 21.30.
Rychkov also anchored the 4×400-meter relay team, joining Noah Traverso, Anthony Senatore, and Victor Akinboboye to post a time of 3:14.73. This performance earned them fourth place and marks the fastest non-converted time in Division III for that event so far this year.
In another highlight from the championships, Kevin Matthews, Tyler Seaton, Thomas Blach, and Brandon Chen took third place in the distance medley relay (DMR) with a time of 9:58.79—currently second-fastest nationally among Division III teams and just about one second slower than TCNJ’s program record.
In individual races at the championships, Lebron Rose placed 17th in the 400 meters with a personal best of 49.26 seconds; Anthony Senatore followed closely behind in 18th place at 49.35 seconds.
At Saturday’s Big Apple Invitational, six Lions competed in the mile run where Evan Melito led with a third-place finish (4:20.56). In other events there, Nihar Tantry was top finisher among four TCNJ runners in the 400 meters (18th place), while Will Evarts (third) and David Keefe (fifth) both placed inside the top five for the 800 meters.
Zach Salib secured an eleventh-place finish out of fifty competitors in the 200 meters (22.86). Ryan Segalla finished as runner-up in the 3000 meters (8:44.90), joined by Anthony Guarino who came sixth (8:50.19). The relay team of Brody Dillich, Salib, Tantry, and Jack Bewalder finished fourth overall in their section of the meet’s concluding relay event.
Field event performances included freshman Maxwell Reilly taking third place in high jump after clearing 1.85 meters; Matthew Corrigan finishing third as well with a pole vault mark of 4.15 meters; and Ryan Donnelly also earning third place for his long jump result.
Throwers had several strong showings led by Braden Paulmenn who won shot put with a throw of 14.89 meters and placed second overall for weight throw at 14.27 meters; Jayson Lewis (third) and Michael Celoski (fourth) joined him among shot put leaders while Xavier Lynch finished ninth overall for weight throw.
Earlier at Fastrack National Invite to start off their weekend schedule, Sean Haggerty led TCNJ’s contingent over five kilometers placing sixth with Moksh Patwari close behind him seventh; Silas Matteson took eleventh while William O’Donovan was thirteenth—all finishing within top fifteen—and Sawyer Stellitano rounded out results coming eighteenth.
