The TCNJ men’s swimming team concluded its participation at the NCAA championships on Mar. 21, achieving three individual All-American honors in Indianapolis.
This result is significant as it highlights the team’s strong performance at a national level and marks an improvement from last year’s placement. The Lions finished 11th overall with 117 points over four days of competition, moving up six spots compared to their previous showing at the NCAA Championships.
M.J. Hoban, Tyler McGeehan, and Gavin Formon each earned All-American recognition in their respective events. Hoban qualified for the B final of the 100 freestyle, breaking the 44-second barrier for the first time in his career with a preliminary time of 43.88 seconds. He maintained this pace in the evening session, winning his heat and finishing ninth overall with a finals time of 43.97 seconds—faster than those who placed seventh and eighth in the championship final.
McGeehan reached his first-ever NCAA individual final by placing 16th to secure a spot in the B final, then improved to finish 15th with a time of 2:00.88. Formon capped off his collegiate career by becoming a four-year All-American; he finished twelfth in the mile event (15:43.22), earning his first All-American honor in that race.
All nine swimmers sent by TCNJ to this year’s NCAAs will return home as All-Americans.
