The TCNJ men’s swimming and diving team achieved a strong performance in their two-day dual meet against Rowan University, held in Glassboro, New Jersey. The Lions secured several event wins and posted notable times, with Andrew Kidchob and Joe McChesney both achieving NCAA B-cut qualifying marks.

On the first day of competition, Andrew Kidchob won the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.14 seconds, which ranks as the fifth-fastest in Division III since mid-December. He also contributed to a victory in the 200 medley relay alongside teammates Tyler McGeehan, Joe McChesney, and M.J. Hoban with a finish of 1:30.41.

Steven Bendoraitis narrowly claimed victory in the 1650 freestyle by just 0.36 seconds, finishing in 16:08.16. M.J. Hoban posted a winning time of 20.96 seconds in the 50 freestyle, while Tyler McGeehan won the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:01.77—the third fastest Division III time since mid-December.

Gabe Beverini took first place in the 200 freestyle (1:41.44). Joe McChesney came close to another B cut in his win in the 100 butterfly with a time of 48.69 seconds, which is currently third fastest among Division III swimmers since December 20th.

The day concluded with a win for TCNJ’s team of McChesney, Beverini, Derin Ozbas, and Hoban in the 400 freestyle relay (3:05.43).

On day two, Joe McChesney earned his own B-cut time by winning the 200 butterfly (1:49.55), also ranking third best nationally among Division III athletes since December 20th. Teammates Pablo Salazar and Owyn Keiderling finished second and third respectively.

TCNJ consistently took at least first and second place finishes across most events on Saturday. Gavin Formon (4:41.85) and Will Heinze (4:42.14) led the way in the 500 freestyle; Andrew Kidchob (1:50.34) won the 200 backstroke ahead of Mason Bushay (1:53.37); Tyler McGeehan won the only event where TCNJ did not take both top spots on day two—the 100 breaststroke—with Dylan Negron placing third.

Additional victories included top-two finishes for M.J Hoban and Gabe Beverini in the 100 freestyle; Pablo Salazar and Gavin Formon in the 400 IM; as well as first place for both A and B teams in the concluding relay events.

The TCNJ men’s swimming team will next compete at home against Swarthmore on Friday, January 23 at 5 p.m.
