TCNJ men’s swim team sets multiple records on day two of NJAC Championships

The TCNJ men’s swimming and diving team continued its strong performance at the NJAC Championships in Hampton, Virginia, by winning every event on the second day of competition and setting several new records.

The relay team of Andrew Kidchob, Tyler McGeehan, Joe McChesney, and M.J. Hoban broke the 400 medley relay record with a time of 3:12.55, surpassing the previous mark by more than three seconds. In this race, Kidchob also set a new program record for his opening split with a time of 48.29.

Steven Bendoraitis won the 500 freestyle event with a B-cut time of 4:26.12, establishing another NJAC record. Gavin Formon finished second in the same event with a B-cut time of 4:29.23. Matthew Liotti and Brian Bull placed fourth and fifth respectively.

In the 200 IM, Gabe Beverini secured first place with a time of 1:49.37 during his rookie season. Tyler McGeehan finished third (1:51.41), while Pablo Salazar took fifth (1:52.19).

M.J. Hoban claimed victory in the 50 freestyle for the second consecutive year with a time of 20.05 seconds, followed by Joe McChesney in second place at 20.85 seconds.

With these results, TCNJ aims to maintain its lead as the championships continue into their third day.
