The TCNJ men’s basketball team achieved a new program record for defensive performance in a 67-36 win over Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday night. The Lions, now holding a 6-3 overall record and 2-2 in conference play, allowed just 36 points—the fewest they have conceded in any game since 2006.
In their previous visit to Camden last February, TCNJ had set the school mark for fewest points allowed in an NJAC contest. This latest victory surpasses that achievement by holding Rutgers-Camden to only 24.5 percent shooting from the field (13-for-53) and just two successful three-pointers out of twenty-three attempts (8.7 percent).
Jonathan Okocha led the Lions’ offense with 18 points, making seven of ten shots from the field and four three-pointers. David Alexandre contributed 12 points, while Matthew Solomon added eight points and collected eleven rebounds as TCNJ dominated the boards with a 52-27 rebounding advantage.
TCNJ established control early with an eight-point run that included three-pointers from Okocha and Mason Mangione. At halftime, Rutgers-Camden narrowed the gap to eleven points, but TCNJ responded after the break with a decisive 20-2 run led by Alexandre’s eight points during that stretch.
Connor Howard extended the lead to its largest margin of thirty-two points late in the game with a three-pointer.
Other notable performances included Nick Koch’s six points, six rebounds, and three assists; Khalid Bakare recorded a season-high seven rebounds.
Solomon reached his 800th career rebound—becoming only the fifth player in program history to do so—while Koch surpassed 300 career assists as just the third player at TCNJ to achieve this milestone. The win marks TCNJ’s twenty-second consecutive victory against Rutgers-Camden.
The Lions will next face Ramapo at home on Saturday for their final NJAC game of 2025.
