Carole Kenner, dean of The College of New Jersey’s School of Nursing and Health Sciences, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Vermont Oxford Network. The organization is a nonprofit group made up of healthcare professionals who collaborate to improve neonatal care through quality improvement initiatives, education, and research.
Kenner stated, “I am proud to bring my experience with neonatal-perinatal care, as well as the nursing perspective, to the board. It’s very important that each area of a medical team has representation when talking about improving the quality of care for babies and patients.”
Throughout her career, Kenner has focused on nursing education and advancing health outcomes for newborns and their families. She has also contributed to developing standards for educating neonatal nurses both nationally and internationally.
She added, “Given the global work that I have done, especially in countries where nurses don’t have the resources and status they deserve, I know how important it is for nurses to be part of the team in every facet and every step of patient care. I will bring that same approach to my role on the board.”
Kenner has served as dean at TCNJ since 2014. Her previous leadership roles include president of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses and founding president of the Council of International Neonatal Nurses.
