The TCNJ baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Ramapo on April 4. The Lions played on the road, dropping the first game 21-9 and the second game 7-3.
The losses mark a setback for TCNJ as they continue their season and look to improve their standing in upcoming conference play.
In the first game, TCNJ recorded 11 hits and scored first when Andrew Pearson drove in Jake Carter after Carter reached base with a bunt single and stole two bases. Despite this early lead, Ramapo responded by scoring the next 17 runs. The Lions managed two four-run innings later in the game, including runs driven by Jack O’Donnell, Jesse Beer, Nate McLaughlin, Michael Contiliano, Braden Dromboski, and Tim Search Jr. Notable performances included McLaughlin going three-for-six with two runs scored and Carter contributing two hits with one run batted in.
Pitcher Max Sanchez threw two scoreless innings for TCNJ in relief during the opening contest.
In game two of the doubleheader, TCNJ again scored first with three runs in the top of the second inning. Four consecutive walks issued by Ramapo’s starting pitcher led to an early run before O’Donnell added another with a sacrifice bunt and McLaughlin singled for a third run. However, these would be all of TCNJ’s scores as Ramapo came back to take control of the game from the fourth inning onward.
Looking ahead, TCNJ will try to rebound when they travel to Stockton next Thursday for another New Jersey Athletic Conference matchup.
