The TCNJ baseball team lost 4-0 to Centenary on March 18 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The Lions loaded the bases in the top of the ninth inning but were unable to score.
This game was notable as freshman Andrew Wilkinson made his first collegiate start on the mound for TCNJ. Wilkinson allowed only one unearned run over the first five innings and recorded two perfect innings. However, Centenary scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth, leading to Wilkinson being replaced by reliever Ryan Greenstein.
Greenstein pitched effectively, holding Centenary scoreless for the remainder of the game. Despite this effort, TCNJ could not overcome their deficit. In total, seven Lions reached base over the final three innings. In a key moment during the ninth inning, Jake Carter and Brian Lovaglio singled and Nate McLaughlin walked to load the bases with two outs. Chris Salmon entered as a pinch hitter but grounded out to end the game.
Wilkinson finished with 5.2 innings pitched, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters. Greenstein contributed 2.1 scoreless innings with three strikeouts and did not allow a hit.
The Lions will conclude their spring break schedule against Ursinus tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM.
